Attabik Awan, Postdoctoral Researcher at Tilburg School of Economics and Management (Tilburg University), has joined the Fieldlabs@Scale project. Attabik Awan brings a rich interdisciplinary background to the Fieldlabs@Scale project, with expertise in system dynamics, innovation sciences, and engineering. His research focuses on using system dynamics to uncover the complexities of collaborative and open innovation, emphasizing how interdependent stakeholders navigate organizational dynamics to achieve meaningful outcomes. With a double master’s in Sustainable Energy and Innovation Science, a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, and a background as an engineer and a consultant, Attabik leverages his experience to bridge theory and practice.
‘My aim is to go beyond theory—to develop actionable insights and tools that empower ieldlabs to not only understand how innovations are born, but to ensure they thrive, scale, and deliver measurable societal and economic value.’
In the project, Attabik examines the complexities of fieldlabs as knowledge ecosystems by developing a system dynamics model. His work delves into the causal mechanisms that drive fieldlabs' evolution, uncovering how these collaborative experimental spaces can thrive amidst stakeholder tensions, funding constraints, and regional institutional dynamics.
